  1. World Zoonoses Day is annually observed on 6 July to raise awareness about Zoonosis or zoonotic disease, an infectious disease that can spread between species, from animals to humans or vice versa. The day also honors the achievements of Louis Pasteur, a renowned French biologist.
  2. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Ajit Agarkar as the chairman of the Senior Men’s Cricket Selection Committee.
  3. On the occasion of its 68th foundation day, the State Bank of India (SBI) has inaugurated 34 Transaction Banking Hubs across 21 district centres in the country which aim to provide efficient and quick Transaction Banking solutions to customers.
  4. According to the 17th edition of the annual Global Peace Index 2023, released by the Institute for Economics and Peace, India has climbed nine positions from 2022 and ranked 126th out of 163 countries.
  5. Indian football team midfielder from Mizoram, Lallianzuala Chhangte was named the AIFF Men’s Footballer of the Year for 2022-23 for the first time and Manisha Kalyan from Punjab won AIFF Women’s Footballer of the Year for 2022-23 for second consecutive time.
  6. B. Neeraja Prabhakar, the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Research Advisory Committee for the ICAR-Indian Institute of Oil Palm Research (IIOPR) in Pedavegi, Andhra Pradesh.
  7. The Defence Ministry inked a Rs. 2,725 crore contract with the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) for the refit of submarine INS Shankush.
  8. The Ministry of Culture, Government of India in partnership with the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) celebrated Dharma Chakra Day on 3 July, and President of India highlighted the importance of Buddha’s teachings and called upon their attention to take inspiration from them.
  9. On 6 July 2023, Bangladesh One Day International (ODI) Captain Tamim Iqbal announced his retirement from international cricket.
  10. The Union Government has appointed Lt Gen MU Nair as the new National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC) replacing Lt Gen (retd.) Dr Rajesh Pant.
  11. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the Sai Hira Global Convention Centre in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh.
  12. India’s mining major, NMDC (National Mineral Development Corporation), in recognition of its significant contributions to the mining sector and its exemplary human resources practices was honored with two prestigious awards ‘Mineral Development Award’ and the ‘Employer Brand of the Year Award’, at the ASSOCHAM Business Excellence Awards 2023 held in Kolkata.  
  13. Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah on 2 July 2023, virtually inaugurated the ‘Akshar River Cruise’ on Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.
  14. Telangana Police have tied up with Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur to use artificial intelligence to fight cyber crimes.
  15. Reserve Bank of India directed Karnataka-based Mahalaxmi Cooperative Bank, Dharwad to function only as a non-banking institution.
  16. Olympian Manna Patel made a new national record of 1:03.48 in the Women’s 100m Backstroke event at the National Swimming Championships held in Hyderabad.
